Emirates Set To Operate Airbus A350-900ULR

November 27, 2024

DUBAI, 27 NOV | Dubai-based carrier, Emirates, is all set to be the world's second Airbus A350-900ULR operator in the near future after announcing that 50 of their 65 A350s on order are of the ultra-long range variant (ULR). This was announced at the delivery ceremony of the carrier's first A350, A6-BXA. They will join Singapore Airlines in operating the type, which currently flies on the world's longest commercial flight from Singapore (SIN) to New York (JFK).

The variant has an extended range of 9,700 nautical miles due to its larger fuel capacity, allowing it to fly up to 20 hours non-stop. Singapore Airlines currently operates 7 of the type on its longer routes to the US. With this extended range, Emirates will be able to reach every single airport in the world direct from Dubai with ease. This will allow the airline to reach more destinations, particularly in Central America.

Emirates' ULR variant will feature 298 seats instead of the 312 installed on its current A350, with an added crew rest area. The carrier currently awaits 14 A350-900s and 50 A350-900ULRs.
