October 26, 2023
CHICAGO, 26 OCT | American full service carrier, United, has launched its largest ever transatlantic schedule in its history, alongside continued growth in the Asia-Pacific and Latin America.
From May 24th 2024, United will launch direct services from New York/Newark to Faro, Portugal- making them the very first airline operating direct flights from the US to Faro. The route will complement the airline's existing Portugese routes 4x weekly on Boeing 757-200 aircraft. The route is operated as follows:
The outbound leg, UA281, departs EWR at 9.50pm, arriving in FAO at 10.00am the following day. The inbound leg, UA282, departs FAO a while later at 11.45am, arriving back in EWR at 3.05pm the same day. This will be the second transatlantic connection from Faro following Air Transat's service to Montreal.
The airline will also resume services between Reykjavik and Newark for the first time since summer 2022, with Boeing 757-200 aircraft from May 23rd 2024 onwards.
Moreover, they will add a second daily flight between Newark and Brussels from March 30 2024 on Boeing 757-200 aircraft, and similarly for the Washington-Dulles to Rome service from May 23 2024 with Boeing 767-300 aircraft. Furthermore, the airline will increase the Newark- Malaga route to daily on Boeing 757-200 aircraft from May 2, 2024.
Additionally, next summer, United's network across the Pacific will grow more than 30% with non-stop service to 15 destinations- including the airline's newest routes between San Francisco- Manila and San Francisco- Beijing. The airline will also grow its Latin American schedule by 10% next summer, extending some of its newest and most popular routes into the summer season.
Lastly, the airline will also resume several of its routes to Europe earlier to give customers more time and options to visit Europe:
- Washington Dulles to Lisbon, Barcelona and Rome (from Feb 15th)
- Newark to Nice, Chicago to Rome and Milan (from March 30th)
- Newark to Naples (from April 5th)
- Newark to Malaga, San Francisco to Rome (from May 2nd)
