Turkish Airlines Orders 345 New Aircraft In Major Airbus Order

BREAKING NEWS | Turkish flag carrier, Turkish Airlines has confirmed an order with Airbus for 345 new aircraft, according to source havasosyalmedya.com. This massive order is the largest placed by the airline, and is at a list price of billions.

This phenomenal order consists of 250 Airbus A321neo aircraft, 75 A350-900s, 15 A350-1000s, and 5 A350 Freighter aircraft. The new A321neo aircraft will replace the airline's fleet of 65 A321ceo aircraft over time, to allow for efficient short to medium haul operations. The new A350-900s will complement the long-haul fleet of Turkish Airlines aircraft, allowing for the airline to expand its network further, replacing their older aircraft- possibly replacing their Boeing 777-300ERs.

The airline will also be a new operator of the largest A350 variant, the A350-1000 with this mega-order. In June 2022, in an interview with Sam Chui, Turkish Airlines' Chairman Ahmet Bolat expressed how the airline was deciding between the purchase of A350-1000 jets or Boeing's heavily delayed Boeing 777X aircraft such that the airline could begin ultra-long-haul operations to Australia, such as direct Istanbul to Sydney flights. In September, the airline began to seek approval for such flights to the country and is still awaiting permission. With this new fleet of aircraft, it is now possible for them to operate these 17-hour-long flights.

This new order is another remarkable step to further growth for the airline.
