SWISS Doubles Airbus A350 Order

December 6, 2024

ZURICH, 6 DEC | Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) has announced today that they will double their Airbus A350-900 order, bringing their total to 10 of the type. The aircraft will arrive to the airline between Summer 2025 and end-2031.

SWISS initially ordered 5 A350s on December 13, 2022 to replace their aging fleet of 11 A340-300s (average age 21.1 years), which would be transferred to subsidiary Edelweiss Air.

The new jets will feature 3 seats in First Class, 45 in Business Class, 38 in Premium Economy Class and 156 in Economy Class. There is a notable reduction of First Class seats compared to its current A340s- with more focus on the other premium classes instead. The A350 will also debut with the carrier's "SWISS Senses" cabin upgrade.

"Our new Airbus A350s will make our fleet even more modern," says SWISS CEO Jens Fehlinger. "This is a major investment, and a vital one to ensure that we continue to meet our customers' high expectations. With these advanced twinjets and their innovative cabins, we're bringing our long-haul aircraft fleet up to a totally new level of modernity, sustainability and inflight comfort for our guests.".
