Airbus Clinches First Order On Day 2 Of Singapore Airshow

SINGAPORE, 21 FEB | The second day of the Singapore Airshow has wrapped up, with Airbus clinching their very first order (and hopefully not the last) of the week. Today was rather quiet in comparison to yesterday, but hopefully Day 3 will see more action.

The only order of the day was from Taiwan's newest airline- STARLUX. The airline purchased 5 Airbus A350 Freighters and 3 additional A330-900neos. The A350F will be the airline's first dedicated freighter aircraft which will be delivered sometime after 2026. The extra A330neos will increase STARLUX's total A330neo fleet up from 4 to 7 by 2025.

Interestingly, this week Airbus also announced an increased payload for the A350F up to 111 tonnes, which may have sparked interest for the aircraft for many airlines, such as STARLUX. Due to the ICAO's enhanced emission standards, many airlines will have to switch over to newer freighters such as the A350F and B777XF by 2027.

With this new order, COMAC still retains its lead at a total of 56 orders this week, followed by Boeing with 49, then ATR with 2. Embraer has failed to garner an order yet.
