Saudia and Riyadh Air Order Up to 121 Boeing 787s

RIYADH, 15 MAR | Saudi Arabian flag carriers, Saudia and newly-launched Riyadh Air, have announced a massive order for up to 121 aircraft from US aircraft manufacturer, Boeing. This large order comprises of the Boeing 787-9s and Boeing 787-10, marking it also as the 5th largest commercial order in Boeing's history.

Saudia has ordered 39 Boeing 787-9s and 787-10s, with options for 10 more. The airline is no stranger to the type, as it currently holds 20 of the variants. Following the order, the airline has already begun with long-haul expansion, with new flights from Jeddah to London-Gatwick and Birmingham.

Newly-launched carrier, Riyadh Air has placed an order for 39 Boeing 787-9s with options for 33 more of the type, which will help establish itself as a competitor against large airlines in the region, such as Emirates, Qatar Airways and Etihad.
