RIA Nears Multi-Billion Dollar Deal With Boeing

March 12, 2023

SAUDI ARABIA, 12 MAR | Saudi Arabia's newest flag carrier- Riyadh International Airlines (RIA) is nearing a multi-billion dollar deal with aircraft manufacturer, Boeing. According to Reuters, the deal could be worth a massive 35 billion US Dollars.

This deal is set to be announced very soon, and includes a mix of narrowbody and widebody jets. The airline has hinted before that the Boeing 737 will be part of their initial launch plan, so an order for numerous 737 MAX aircraft could be on the table. As for long-haul aircraft, the airline could order the Boeing 777X, since the airline plans to launch with short-haul services preliminarily. The airline also has been in talks for 75 Boeing 787s, but nothing has come of it yet.

Besides Boeing aircraft, the airline has plans to order 40 Airbus A350s worth 12 billion dollars and some A320s, but has not been confirmed yet.

The brand-new carrier, as the name suggests, will be based in Riyadh, and has lots of ambitions. Within a few years, the airline aims to launch up to 250 destinations and compete with the likes of Emirates and Qatar Airways.
