Qantas Expands International Network with New Routes and Increased Capacity
October 16, 2024
AUSTRALIA, 16 OCT | Today, Qantas has made several key changes to their international network. This includes new routes, new aircraft, deployment changes and many more!
Launch of Brisbane to Palau Flights
The Australian flag carrier will begin flights to the Pacific island for the very first time in the coming months. The airline will utilise their fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft to serve the sectors. The route is part of the 'Palau Paradise Express', operating as part of a contract awarded to Qantas by the government to help maintain strong trade and tourism links between Australia and Palau.
The return of two Airbus A380s following maintenance and cabin modifications, together with fleet distribution modifications, will see Qantas boost capacity to the United States by 13 percent, offering 30 percent more premium seats for customers.
From 6 February 2025, the Melbourne-Dallas service will increase from a frequency of 3x weekly to 4x weekly. Moreover, from 11 August 2025, the Boeing 787 will return on the Brisbane-Los Angeles route, doubling premium seat capacity and offering customers the additional choice of Premium Economy. On the same day, Airbus A380 service will return on the Sydney-Dallas route for the first time since the pandemic began.
Other Key Network Changes
Qantas will unfortunately cease flights to Seoul from Sydney, with Jetstar filling in the gaps, increasing seat capacity by 4 percent. There will also be 40 percent increase in premium seats on the Brisbane-Auckland route with the deployment of the Boeing 787 for the very first time.
Flights from Brisbane to Noumea will also resume with Embraer E190 aircraft on the route for the first time at a 2x weekly frequency. This comes after the route was temporary suspended in April.
These changes have resulted in the addition of around 220,000 seats to its international network over 12 months compared to its current schedule, from February 2025.
