Qantas to Fly the E190 to Singapore on a New Route

December 12, 2022

DARWIN, 12 DECEMBER | Qantas has announced the launch of a new route from Darwin to Singapore. This will be their first time operating the route since October 2006. After Qantas's subsidiary, Jetstar, left the route in August 2022, Singapore Airlines have been the only operator of their route with their fleet of Boeing 737 MAX 8s.

However, Qantas's launch of this route is interesting, as they will be operating the route with Alliance Air's Embraer E190 fleet, 1x daily. This will be Singapore Changi's first regularly scheduled flight with Embraer E190 aircraft. This route will also become one of the longest regularly operated route with the E190, at 4 hours and 40 minutes. Subject to government approval, the route will launch from 23 June 2023, as follows:

QF353 DRW 1820 - 2140 SIN E190
QF354 SIN 2240 - 0500(+1) DRW E190

This comes just months after the airline opened an E190 base in Darwin, to operate to destinations in Indonesia, and Timor-Leste. The aircraft operating on this new Singapore route are among 4 E190s leased from Alliance Air earlier in the year.
