Orlando Airport Reopens Following Closure Due to Tropical Storm Nicole

November 11, 2022

At 4.21pm local time on November 9th, 2022, Orlando Airport (MCO) suspended all operations due to Tropical Storm Nicole. The last departure from the airport prior to closure was British Airways flight BA204, bound for London Heathrow, that departed almost 4 hours early to avoid the storm.

Departure boards filled with cancellations were seen, alongside empty security queues. Over 1,300 flights had been cancelled or delayed significantly.

Finally, after slightly more than 30 hours, Orlando Airport has restarted operations at 8pm on November 10th, with the first few flights being UPS services to Louisville, Dallas and Philadelphia.
