Hanging by a thread: Mango Airlines' only shareholder stops funding the airline.

The sight of the beautiful dark yellow livery of Mango Airlines'aircraft is a rare sight for many. It is a Planespotter's dream to catch sight of this beauty. Sadly, this sight may even become more rare in the near future. Mango Airlines'only shareholder, South African Airways, has decided that it is financially unviable to fund the troubled airline and has decided to suspend funding. Since, the airline has entered into a formal business rescue process.

The airline is in hot water right now as they are carrying a debt of USD 163.8 million. Besides that, they are also troubled with finding money to pay their staff, who have not been paid for almost 2 months and they too suspended flights in the middle of this year as they failed to pay South Africa's Air Traffic and Navigation Services. There is only a handful of days left before the airline will likely close shop for good.

Another reason why South African Airways stopped funding is because they are also struggling with their own financial battles, as they were previously in administration for more than a year.
