Farewell: Last Airbus A380 Delivered to Emirates

Hamburg, 17 December 2021 | Today is a sad day for all aviation fans- the last ever Airbus A380 to be made has been delivered to Emirates. This marks the end of the A380 production line, after almost 15 years of production.

In 2019, Airbus announced that they will cease their A380 production line. This is largely due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the rise of efficient twin-engine jets. Back in 2007, Airbus envisioned that the future of aviation would be quantity over efficiency, but they were wrong.

That resulted in today's events- A6-EVS, the last ever Airbus A380 to be made touched down in London Heathrow airport. The aircraft is set to enter commercial service on Emirates' flight from London to Dubai. This also marks the 123rd Airbus A380 delivered to Emirates, which will feature it's new Premium Economy Cabin.

However, it certainly is not the end for the jet. Airlines such as Singapore Airlines, Emirates, British Airways and more will likely operate the jet for another decade or so.

Guillaume Faury, Airbus CEO said:

The A380 has touched the lives of so many passengers by setting new standards in terms of flying and travel experience. I am confident that it will continue to do so for decades to come with Emirates, which has continuously introduced new services and products allowing passengers around the world to experience the unique features of their A380s. On behalf of all Airbus teams, I would like to use this delivery milestone to warmly thank Emirates Airline - the biggest A380 operator in the world for their unwavering trust and partnership. Here's to many more happy landings
