BREAKING NEWS: Flights Kept In Holding Pattern for Up to 4 Hours In Kathmandu, Reason Still Unknown.


BREAKING NEWS | Kathmandu Airport, 4 December 2021 | Flights were seen trapped in a holding pattern near Kathmandu Airport for an unknown reason. Multiple flights experienced huge delays of up to 4 hours.

The first flight that was affected the most by this delay was Qatar Airways flight QR652, from Doha to Kathmandu. The aircraft on time upon nearing Kathmandu and was on final approach at 1.42am UTC, 4 hours after departure. However, it was told to go in a holding pattern and landed 4 hours later, at around 4.31am UTC. The flight was operated by a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, with registration A7-BCW.

Another highly affected flight was Jazeera Airways Flight J9539 and J91541, which were both arriving from Kuwait City. The flights were supposed to land at 6.50am UTC and 7am UTC respectively, but landed way later between 10 to 10.10am UTC.

Also, a FlyDubai Boeing 737-800 on flight FZ571 from Dubai to Kathmandu was diverted to Lucknow Airport following an aborted landing.

Other affected flights include: Nepal Airlines flight RA416 and RA230, Himalaya Airlines flight H9566 and H95602.
