IndiGo's First Business Class Flight Takes Off

DELHI, 14 NOV | Today marks a significant shift in IndiGo's all-Economy budget strategy as they debut enter the Business Class market with an all new product- "IndiGo Stretch".

Following its announcement in August, IndiGo Stretch took flight today on the Delhi to Mumbai domestic service (6E6814)- a short 1 hour and 40 minute flight. The flight was operated by VT-ICF, the first A321neo with the product, delivered in October. It features a special decal of "IndiGo means business" to indicate the presence of the IndiGo Stretch seat. The product is currently only available on this route, and will soon expand to 11 other high-traffic metro routes by the end-2025.

According to the airline, IndiGo Stretch's seats come with a six-way adjustable headrest with neck support, 5 inch deep recline to relax, electronic device holder, 60-watt USB-Type C power supply, and a three-pin universal power outlet to stay charged during the journey. IndiGo Stretch customers will also enjoy a host of complimentary benefits such as no convenience fee, specially curated vegetarian meal box, wide choice of beverages, and advance seat selection at no additional charge along with priority check-in and anytime boarding. Hot meals unfortunately cannot be provided as the aircraft does not contain any ovens. It is also not equipped with any inflight entertainment screens, nor lie flat seats.

It is clear that IndiGo Stretch is a middle-of-the-market product, in between low-cost business class and full service business class, with hot meals, IFE screens, lounge access and lie-flat seats. This product is also expected to rollout on the airline's future Airbus A321XLR jets, which entered service today with Iberia, and their Airbus A350-900s.
