BHUBANESWAR, 27 APRIL | Popular Indian low-cost carrier, IndiGo, is set to launch 2 new services from Odisha capital, Bhubaneswar. The brand-new services will link Bhubaneswar's Biju Patnaik Airport (BBI) with Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), and the world's best airport- Singapore's Changi Airport (SIN).

These routes will be operated by IndiGo's fleet of Airbus A320neo aircraft from June 5, 3x weekly. According to planespotters.net data, the airline has around 163 of the type. The connections will join IndiGo's newly launched route from Bhubaneswar to Dubai-International, which begins in May. The airline remains the only carrier to operate international flights from the area.

However, in the past, AirAsia India (now known as AIX Connect), used to operate the Bangkok service in 2018 but cancelled it just a year later without any specified reasons.

The local government has earmarked Rs 120 crore (14.6 million USD) to help operate these flights and hopes to reach break-even within a year. These services will help channelise the huge potential for economic growth through enhanced accessibility, according to the airline.
