INDIA/TURKEY, 14 MARCH | Indian low-cost carrier, IndiGo has confirmed it will be leasing 3 additional Boeing 777 aircraft from Turkish Airlines to help with expanding their long-haul network.

Earlier in the year, the airline had leased 2 Boeing 777s, also from Turkish Airlines, for their flights to Istanbul. The aircraft, however, remained in Turkish Airlines livery.

Nonetheless, the new agreement for 3 Boeing 777s IndiGo made allows them to operate on more long-haul routes, not only those to Turkey like before. For a long time now, the airline has been keen on launching flights to London, so could it finally happen?

Additionally, this time around, the aircraft will be painted in IndiGo' beautiful signature livery, unlike before, according to Turkish Airlines. This will be Indigo's first time having a widebody aircraft in their colours.

Once these 3 aircraft are delivered to IndiGo, the current 2 in their fleet will return. It is also rumoured that one of the newly-delivered Boeing 777s will be an ex-Azur Air airframe, which has been stored in Istanbul following sanctions.
