Finnair Cancels Hundreds Of Flights Due to Pilot Strike
November 24, 2024
HELSINKI, 24 NOV | Finland's flag carrier, Finnair, has announced today that The Finnish Air Line Pilots' Association will be going on strike on 9 and 13 December 2024. This has resulted in the cancellation of 269 flights, impacting approximately 33,000 passengers in this pre-Christmas travel season.
The airline is working to reroute passengers to other airlines via its Oneworld alliance partners- such as British Airways, American Airlines, Japan Airlines, Qatar Airways and Iberia. According to the airline, if a suitable new flight cannot be found, customers can apply for a refund of the ticket price from Finnair Customer Service or travel agent (if applicable). Finnair is obligated to provide care for passengers during significant delays or cancellations, including arranging hotel accommodations and meals. If Finnair is unable to organize these services, passengers should manage the arrangements themselves and claim the expenses later.
