Boeing Press Breifing Hints at Multi-Billion Dollar Order, News on New Aircraft

17 July 2022

To kick off the Farnborough Airshow this morning, Boeing has begun on a press breifing. Many questions answered including the status of the NMA, and hints of a brand new giant Boeing order.

Firstly, Boeing Commercial Airplanes CEO Stan Deal is "very bullish" on future sales of 777X returning - sees potential in 2023/24 timeframe for flagship widebody sales - "the top end of the market" and notes it is 35-40% more efficient than an A380.

Secondly, he stated that it is going to be "pretty robust show" in terms of airliner orders at FIA2022 says Stan Deal, "demand is coming back. Stay tuned"

Thirdly, he also commented on Boeing's future aicraft- the NMA (New Midsized Aircraft)- "I'm not in a rush" to launch a new airliner, who says that work is going on behind the scenes in digital design, digital engineering, digital manufacturing that will support a new aircraft.

These statements and several sources have determined that Delta Air Lines is set to place an order for 100 Boeing 737 MAX 10 aircraft, later today at the airshow, with a deal worth $13.5 billion dollars. Reuters reported in March that Delta was edging towards an order for 100 MAX 10 planes, and also reported last week that Airbus was in talks for Delta to expand an existing order of A220 planes.

In other news at the airshow, Qatar Airways just brought in one of their 787s and 777s, in an unprecedented move.
