Emirates Orders 15 Airbus A350-900s

DUBAI AIRSHOW DAY 4 | November 16, 2023

DUBAI AIRSHOW (Day 4), 16 NOV | Dubai-based Emirates has confirmed an order with Airbus for 15 additional A350-900s, bringing their total A350-900 order to 65 units. The first delivery of the type is reportedly slated for August 2024.

The airline plans to deploy their A350s to serve a range of new markets including long haul services of up to 15 hours flying time from Dubai. The airline reportedly also originally planned to include 20 A350-1000s, but due to disputes regarding the Trent XWB-97 engine which the larger variant utilises, the type has been removed from the order. Airbus leaked this development as an order announcement for 35 A350s, with both variants, was accidentally posted yesterday.

With this order, the airline is expected to fly a more diverse fleet in the future, with the 777-8X, 777-9X, 787-8, 787-10, A330-900neo, A350-900 and possibly the A350-1000, replacing the A380 (retiring by 2040) and 777-300ER in due time.
