Final China Southern A380 Sent to Scrap

December 2, 2022

VICTORVILLE, 2 DECEMBER | Sadly, another China Southern Airbus A380 is on its way to Victorville, where one of the largest airplane boneyards are located. The superjumbo entered out of service just a month ago, and is only 11 years old at the time of writing.

This aircraft is one of 5 A380s the airline used to operate. According to data from planespotters.net, 2 of the jets were sold to Jet Midwest Group, 1 was leased to an unknown lessor, and the other two are to be scrapped in Victorville.

China Southern was the only Chinese airline that operated the A380, and, they flew it to many popular destinations including Amsterdam, Los Angeles and London. However, the A380 is nowhere near extinct in China. Singapore Airlines operate the jumbo-jet regularly to Guangzhou, Shanghai, Beijing, and Hong Kong (from 2023 onwards).
