Xinhua, China, 14 MAY 2022 | Earlier this morning, the first COMAC C919 aircraft to be flown commercially has taken its first flight, according to COMAC (Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China). The jet is set to enter into service with China Eastern Airlines.

The C919 is a highly efficient short-haul jet, developed solely by China. It is set to compete with the popular Airbus A320neo and Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. It has 158-174 seats, with a range of 5,555km. It made its maiden flight with a prototype model in 2017, and received its type certification in 2020.
