Boeing Launches 2 New 737 Conversion Lines in China

Beijing, December 7, 2021 | Boeing and Taikoo Aircraft Engineering have partnered up to add two new Boeing 737-800BCF conversion lines at their facility in Jinan, China. Once they are operational, the facility will have a total of 7 conversion lines.

5 years ago, Boeing launched the Boeing 737-800BCF (Boeing Converted Freighter). The aircraft would be a conversion of commercial Boeing 737-800s into a freighter variant, with high reliability, lower fuel consumption and low operating costs as compared to other freighters. As of December 2021, the type only has 200 orders, but Boeing forecasts that 1,720 freighter conversions will be needed over the next 20 years.

Peter Gao, Vice President, Boeing Commercial Sales and Marketing for China stated:

Boeing is pleased to continue growing our strong and mutually beneficial relationship with STAECO by creating additional conversion capacity to meet growing global demand. STAECO has exhibited the expertise and track record of delivering quality freighter conversions and will play a critical role in helping Boeing meet our customer commitments today and in the future.
