British Airways A320 Diverts Following Fumes In The Cockpit

MANCHESTER, 27 JAN | A British Airways Airbus A320-200 has diverted to Manchester (MAN) from a flight from Glasgow (GLA) to London-Heathrow (LHR), following a squawk 7700- which is the transponder code for general emergency. This is due to reports of fumes in the cockpit, according to sources on Twitter.

The flight was apparently a repositioning flight, and carried no passengers. The 22-year-old Airbus A320ceo, with registration G-MIDS, had been stored in Glasgow since 7 November 2022. At the time of the accident, the aircraft was leaving its short-term storage in Glasgow to re-enter into service. The decades-old aircraft was delivered to British Midland in 2001, then leased to Lufthansa momentarily- and finally to British Airways in 2012.

Fortunately, the diversion of this aircraft has no impact on any other flights at the moment.
