British Airways Unveils New A380 First Class Seats
November 26, 2024
LONDON, 26 NOV | British Airways today has unveiled an all new First class product, which will be retrofitted on the airline's Airbus A380-800 fleet from mid-2026. The airline has not fully refreshed the First cabin on their A380s since they first got them delivered 11 years ago in 2013, and its age has been showing as the seats have become rather run down and outdated.
The new First seats are a major upgrade to the current product, with an ultra-wide seat, 79 inch bed, 32-inch 4K IFE screen all enclosed in a private suite with a 60 inch curved wall. For customers travelling together in the centre of the cabin, a divider can be opened to create a shared lounge space for "buddy dining" in the seat with their travel companion. To add on to the privacy, the seat panelling is sound proof, and seats come with an all new "Do Not Disturb" button function.
This revamp was much needed with the A380, modernising the product to become one of the best premium class selections available on the market. The airline will also continue to fly the A380 on transatlantic sectors, being the only European carrier from the UK to offer a First product across the Atlantic.
This new upgrade is part of 120 new initiatives by the airline in its £7billion (8.8bn USD) transformation focus, from brand-new short-haul seats, free Wi-Fi messaging on board to refreshing its lounges across its global network.
