INDIA, 18 FEB | Air India will cease all flights to Aizawl's Lengpui Airport effective March 18, 2023. This route suspension will further decrease flight networks from the area and negatively impact Mizoram's Tourism.

The airline will cancel their last remaning route from the airport- AI711/AI712 to Kolkata, which is currently being operated by the airline's fleet of Airbus A319 aircraft. This will result in IndiGo dominating the airport, with flights to Agartala, Delhi, Guwahati and Kolkata, alongside Alliance Air and Go First.

The route was likely cancelled due to high competition as both IndiGo and Alliance Air competes alongside Air India for the Aizawl to Kolkata service. As of now, it is still unclear if Air India Express will begin flights to the area, replacing the full-service carrier.
