DELHI, 23 DEC | India's flag carrier, Air India, has taken delivery of their very first flagship A350-900 aircraft today in Delhi, after a hop from Airbus Tolouse with callsign "AI350". This is the first of 470 new aircraft ordered by the airline in June.
The aircraft, VT-JRA, was originally destined for Aeroflot as VP-BYG 4 months ago, but due to sanctions, Air India has opted to take it up. Notably, this A350 is the first in Air India's fleet to showcase their new modern livery and identity, which was unveiled earlier in the year.
This very first A350 will enter service in end-January, beginning with operations on Domestic sectors, followed by 5 additional A350s to enter service by May- with the remaining to come at a later date.
