Ethiopian Airlines Resumes Madrid Service

August 11, 2023

ADDIS ABABA, 11 AUG | This December, Ethiopian Airlines will resume services from Addis Ababa (ADD) to Madrid (MAD) via Rome (FCO), which was previously terminated due to loss of demand caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

From 9 December 2023, the current ET712/ET713 service will no longer terminate in Rome and continue on to Madrid-Barajas Airport. The service will be operated by Airbus A350-900 aircraft, 4x weekly.

ET712 departs Addis at 12.05am, arriving in Madrid following a stopover in Rome at 8.10am. The inbound service, ET713 departs Madrid at 7.25pm, arriving back in ADD at 7.30am the following day. The layover in Rome on both legs is approximately 1 hour.

There are no direct services between Addis Ababa and Madrid, but there are lots of competitors on the Rome (FCO)- Madrid sector, with ITA Airways, Ryanair and Iberia operating on it.

Unfortunately, the Rome to Madrid sector is not a fifth-freedom service, so tickets cannot be booked individually.
