BREAKING NEWS | TUI Airways Boeing 787 Diverts Back to Manchester

BREAKING NEWS | Manchester, 8 December 2021 | A TUI Airways Boeing 787 diverts back to Manchester due to technical issues.

At about 9.30am UTC, the aircraft, operating flight BY186 from Manchester to Puerto Vallarta squawked 7700, informing ATC that there is an emergency onboard. Sources say that the front landing gear of the aircraft was malfunctioning and could not retract. Fearing damage on the landing gear, the pilots decided not to continue with the flight Following that, it dumped fuel to lighten its load and made its arrival back in Manchester.

The aircraft on the route was G-TUIB, a 8.6-year-old Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, delivered to Thomson Airways in 2013, then to TUI a few years later in 2017.

This is also not the first incident involving that aircraft. In 2017, G-TUIB also faced fuselage damage by a ground vehicle, resulting in its grounding for 2 months.
